BIBLICAL Spiritual FORMATION
A 5-week guided journey into what it means to be formed in Christ.
Christ formed in you.
Biblical Spiritual Formation is a five-week cohort experience exploring how Scripture — and the very questions Jesus asked — shape a life of authentic discipleship. This isn't a lecture series to watch alone. It's a guided, reflective, and communal journey designed to move you from learning about spiritual formation to living it.
What You'll Explore
Across five sessions, you'll walk through:
What is Biblical Spiritual Formation? — laying the foundation, grounded in the gospel of the Kingdom
The Methods of Jesus — how He formed His apprentices, then and now
Integration & Intention — becoming whole and holy, not fragmented
Kingdom Habits — the disciplines that shape a life around Jesus
Community & Communion — formation isn't meant to happen alone
Who It's For
Anyone who wants to grow deeper in their knowledge and love of Scripture — no seminary degree required. Whether you're new to the language of spiritual formation or have been walking with Jesus for decades, this course meets you where you are and invites you further in.

Plan for about 5-7 hours a week — readings, short video teachings, and guided reflection exercises. This isn't a heavy academic workload; it's designed to be reflective and doable alongside a full life. As Cara puts it, "It is more than okay if you can't get every box checked. Perfection is not the goal."
-
Both. The core teaching (video lessons and readings) is self-paced within each week, so you can work through it on your own schedule. Alongside that, you're invited to a weekly live gathering with the cohort for real-time reflection and conversation — the rhythm that makes this a shared journey, not a solo one.
-
Your $50 gets you full access to all five weeks of video teaching, guided readings and reflection prompts, the weekly live cohort gathering, and a private group space to connect with fellow participants throughout the course.
-
Not at all. Biblical Spiritual Formation is written for anyone who wants to grow — whether you're brand new to the language of "spiritual formation" or you've been walking with Jesus for decades. Cara brings seminary-level scholarship down to earth, without watering it down.
-
Yes — two books are part of this journey: Renovation of the Heart by Dallas Willard and The Inquisitive Christ by Cara Murphy. Both are woven into the teaching throughout the five weeks, so we'd encourage picking up copies before the course begins.
-
Life happens — you won't be penalized for missing a session. All video teaching stays accessible for the full length of the course, so you can catch up in your own time. The live gatherings are the one thing you can't rewind, but you're always welcome back the following week.
-
You'll get access to a private cohort community chat to share reflections, ask questions, and pray for one another throughout the five weeks — plus the weekly live gathering for face-to-face (well, screen-to-screen) connection.
A NOTE FROM CARA
I know five weeks and fifty dollars might feel like a small ask on paper, but I don't want you to mistake the size of the investment for the size of what it can hold.
This isn't another course to check off a list. It's a chance to sit with the questions Jesus is already asking you, in a season set apart on purpose, with people who are wondering alongside you. I've watched this journey reshape how people read Scripture, how they pray, and how they see their own ordinary days as sacred ground.
Whatever is pulling at you right now – curiosity, restlessness, a hunger for more – I believe it's worth answering.
There is more waiting for you here, and I'd be honored to walk it with you.
This course was originally created for Colorado Christian University College of Adult and General Studies, with shared ownership of all content.
